This project at UCL developed a façade system of environmentally moderated external insulation shutters that allow large expanses of glazing to be used. In sufficient temperatures the shutters open with no energy outlay and reveal the glazing. In low temperatures, or in times of excess solar gain the shutters close.

Fred Guttfield and Joe Moorhouse were responsible for the design, detailing and procurement of the demonstration pavilion. Along with a group of UCL architecture students we constructed and installed glazed screen, insulation shutters and thermal chimneys.
